One person who was particularly delighted on hearing of the appointment was Society Chairman Professor Graham N.Smith. He said:
‘This appointment is a great reflection on Joel and all of the hard work that he has put over the years, not only while he was Sports Therapist at Arsenal Football Club but more latterly in a similar role with the England U21 Squad. His appointment is something of which, we in The Society of Sports Therapists are extremely proud; seeing a member of Joel’s calibre being recognised and acknowledged.
‘As someone who has been a part of his journey through Sports Therapy, I am particularly proud that a colleague and friend is an integral part of what we hope will become an extremely successful management and support team
‘I am sure that , as a Senior Lecturer at the University of Hertfordshire, Joel’s appointment and experiences will undoubtedly benefit the students whom he teaches and also demonstrate what can be achieved with hard work and dedication’.
