Previous Applicants need not apply.
The Department has been
delivering sport and exercise programmes for over 60 years and has over 1300
students studying at foundation, undergraduate and postgraduate level across
a range of courses in the sport and exercise area. The Department is
fortunate to be located on a purpose built Campus, opened in 2002, with
excellent practical sport, laboratory and library facilities that have been
recently enhanced by extensive additional active learning and social spaces.
We have fully equipped biochemistry, biomechanics, physiology, psychology
and ICT laboratories, alongside a clinical skills area for sports therapy.
Practical facilities include a Sports Hall, Dance Studio, All-Weather Pitch
and Cardiovascular and Strength Fitness Suites. The design of these
facilities reflects the Department's commitment to active learning, and to
ensuring that students are fully engaged with their curriculum, building
skills for employability and for lifelong learning.
This post has
arisen due to the continued popularity of our programmes and continued
growth in student numbers across the Department. You will be joining a team
of 40 academic staff, all of whom are engaged in research and scholarly
activity.
The Faculty is seeking to appoint a highly qualified and
enthusiastic individual to work with the recently established sports therapy
team. Candidates should be appropriately qualified in sports therapy, and
have practical and teaching experience of sports therapy. Membership of the
Society of Sports Therapists (SST) is a requirement. This exciting post
requires a highly motivated and well organised person, who can be dynamic in
making external links and placement opportunities within the County of
Gloucestershire.
This post is principally a teaching post, although
all staff are expected to be research active to ensure that their teaching
is underpinned and supported by research and scholarship, for which an
appropriate time allowance is made available. The academic team have
developed a supportive research culture and entered the 2008 RAE.
